Oasis Foundation Awards Grant to “Blockchain of Things” Onchain Data Management

Blockchain of Things is building a privacy-preserving marketplace for Internet of Things data streams on Sapphire

  • BoT is a privacy-first IoT data marketplace built on Sapphire with subscription-based access
  • BoT offers a flexible platform for both commercial IoT sensors and custom-built devices
  • BoT has plans for community-driven quality control through ratings and transparent data previews

The Oasis Foundation is awarding a grant to Blockchain of Things (BoT), a standout project from the ETHDam hackathon earlier this year. BoT leverages the Sapphire runtime's encryption capabilities to create a secure marketplace where IoT device operators can monetize their data streams while maintaining privacy. The platform's subscription model and preview system allow data consumers to verify quality before purchase, establishing a sustainable framework for bringing verified real-world data onchain.

BoT addresses the growing demand for reliable real-world data oracles by incentivizing high-quality IoT data streams. With support from the Oasis Foundation, the team will deploy smart contracts to Sapphire and develop a proof-of-concept frontend supporting both IoT sensors and generic oracle feeds. Once live, the platform will enable users to access authenticated real-world data through Sapphire's privacy layer. This ensures that sensitive information remains protected while allowing data providers to monetize their streams through flexible subscription pricing.

The Blockchain of Things project is led by developers Fedor Panafidin and Merlijn Stoffels. The team combines years of Web3 development experience across Ethereum-based networks and IoT expertise in industrial IoT integration and cloud systems development. Currently operating as a privately funded project, BoT leverages complementary skills to build this essential infrastructure for privacy-preserving data streams. "We're aiming to create a platform where IoT innovation and confidentiality coexist by design."
